Yorkshire Jen and Creeping Jane

I love folk music. My favorite album of all time is Anais Mitchell’s Child Ballads, modern interpretations of some of the oldest songs we have. I love the way folk songs borrow verses from each other, morph and mutate.

I spent a good amount of time while writing this book in absolute tears over Kate Rusby’s gorgeous Jenny. Roud 1012 first appeared in print in the 1850s. Though my characters are in Warwickshire, not Lincolnshire, Isaiah Chance may just have heard it when he decided to name his "bottle baby" filly. I'm telling you, the man is a soft touch.
